Shri Ram, incarnated in Raghukul, followed the tradition of not sacrificing his life but keeping his promise by following dignity throughout his life. In Hindu religion, Shri Ram is the seventh incarnation of Shri Vishnu among the 10 incarnations. His mother’s name was Kaushalya and father’s name was Dasharatha. Lord Shri Ram’s love for his brothers Bharat, Shatrughan and Lakshman is exemplary for mankind. The pair of Lord Shri Ram and Sita ji is considered an ideal pair even today. They had two sons, Luv and Kush. Shri Hanuman is considered to be the biggest devotee of Lord Shri Ram.

In the incarnation of Shri Ram, Vishnu ji presented the ideal qualities of a son, brother, husband and friend in front of everyone. An ideal son who, in order to fulfill his father’s promise, left the kingdom and chose the path of exile and spent 14 years in exile. Setting an example of an ideal wife, wife Sita also spent her exile along with her husband. Lord Shri Ram who makes everyone’s life sail across. By the way, while going to exile, Lord Shri Ram was made to cross the river by a boatman. When Shri Ram was going on exile with Mother Sita, after reaching the river bank, he met Nishad Raj. Nishad Raj washed the feet of the Lord with devotion and made him cross the river by making him sit on his boat. Regarding this incident, it is written in Shri Ramcharit Manas that-

Asked for the boat to come to Kevattu. Tell me, I will go to your heart’s desire.

I asked for a boat, neither did I come to Kevattu. Tell me, I will go to your heart.

Should I say lotus feet, may I say Sabu. Manush Karni Muri Kachu Ahai ॥

The woman is pleased without touching him. There is no difficulty in wearing clothes.

They say, O merciful one, until I wash my feet! I will not cross the river Hearing the loving words of the boatman, the merciful Lord Ramchandra also smiled and did the same as was the wish of the devotee. On receiving the permission of Shri Ramchandraji, Nishadraj washed the lotus feet of the Lord by bringing the Kathot with great joy and love. After washing the feet and drinking that water himself along with his entire family, he took his ancestors across the ocean of existence and then happily made Lord Shri Ramchandraji sit with Sita and Lakshman and made them cross the river. Lord Shri Ramchandraji, filled with compassion, bid him farewell by giving him the blessing of pure devotion.

Who was Nishadraj?

Nishadraj Kevat has been described in the Ayodhya Kanda of Ramayana. Nishadraj Guh was the king of fishermen and sailors. He ruled in Ringverpur. He helped Lord Shri Ram cross the river. After exile, Shri Ram spent his first night at his place.
