Dish TV’s largest shareholder Yes Bank Ltd (YBL) and the promoter family led by its former chairman Jawaharlal Goyal are in a legal tussle over representation on the board.
Dish TV has called an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on March 3 to seek shareholders’ approval for the appointment of four new independent directors. As per the notice issued by Dish TV, the EGM will be virtual through video conferencing and other audio means. Dish TV’s largest shareholder Yes Bank Ltd (YBL) and the promoter family led by its former chairman Jawaharlal Goyal are in a legal tussle over representation on the board.
Four independent directors – Sunil Kumar Gupta, Madan Mohanlal Verma, Gaurav Gupta and Lalit Bihari Singhal – are to be appointed. The company’s board had announced his appointment in December last year, the first major appointment after the departure of Jawaharlal Goyal. Earlier, at the AGM on December 30, the shareholders of Dish TV had rejected four resolutions. These also included the approval of a single and unified financial statement for the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22.
