The Indian Parliament passed the Motor Vehicles Act 2016 in the year 2017, which made several new amendments and these amendments mean that there are many new ways in which your driving license can be suspended. After amendment in section 206 of the Motor Vehicles Act Act it now empowers the police to suspend the driving license for the following offences.

Heavy challans are deducted for being caught racing on public roads, as well as the risk of cancellation of driving license increases if caught racing.
Driving under the influence of alcohol is a punishable offense, if you are caught driving under the influence of alcohol, you will be fined Rs 10,000, while the traffic police can also cancel your driving license. The provision of challan up to Rs 15,000 is also included if caught doing so again.
If caught without a helmet, the possibility of getting DL canceled increases with a challan of up to Rs 1000. Your license can also be canceled if you cross the red signal, so avoid crossing the red light.
