East Bengal beat Gokulam to enter semi-finals

Kolkata: East Bengal FC stormed into the semi-finals of the Durand Cup 2023 after beating Gokulam Kerala FC 2-1 in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Jordan Elsey (1st minute) scored for the winning team, while Boba Amino (57th minute) scored for Gokulam in the match played at Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan.
In this draw, Boba scored an own goal in the 77th minute which resulted in Gokulam’s defeat. With the score tied at 1-1, East Bengal kept the ball in possession and put pressure on Gokulam. In the 77th minute of the match, the ball played by Nishu Kumar unfortunately hit the feet of Boba and registered itself in the Gokulam goal post.
Following Boba’s own goal, East Bengal defended well and denied Gokulam’s attackers any chance. Clyton Silva could have scored an equalizer for Gokulam in injury time but his header missed as East Bengal won the rest of the match easily to enter the semi-finals. Chennaiyin FC will take on FC Goa in the third quarterfinal of the Durand Cup on Saturday.
