Press conference will be held after appearing in Parliament
Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Dr V Anantha Nageswaran will hold a press conference after the Finance Minister presents the Economic Review in the Parliament. During this he will highlight the nuances of the Economic Review.
What is Economic Survey?
The Economic Survey is presented in the Parliament before the Union Budget to give information about the state of the economy and suggest policy ‘prescriptions’. To understand it in simple words, the economic survey is an account of the health of the country’s economy. Through this document, the government tells in what condition the economy of the country is. How fast the schemes of the government are progressing. What was the trend of development throughout the year? How much investment was made in which sector? How were the plans implemented etc. One of the things that everyone’s eyes are on in the Economic Survey that comes a day before the Budget is the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimates for the next financial year.
Who prepares economic survey
The Economic Survey is prepared by a team headed by the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA). Finance and economic affairs experts are included in this team along with the CEA. The government has recently appointed economist V. Anantha Nageswaran as the new CEA (Chief Economic Advisor). He succeeds KV Subramaniam, whose three-year term was completed in December 2021.
