New Delhi: Public sector Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) will soon launch a national program on clean cooking. Under this, ‘induction’ stove and ‘induction pressure cooker’ will be made available to the customers at affordable rates. Official sources gave this information on Thursday. It is worth mentioning that there are still many areas of the country where there is difficulty in reaching LPG even though electricity has reached there. This program is being started mainly keeping in mind those areas.
Sources said, “EESL is now preparing to launch a national program for eco-friendly cooking. In this, electricity-powered ‘induction’ stove and ‘induction pressure cooker’ will be made available to the customers at a cheaper rate. Can Discussions have also been held with the States in this regard. EESL is running various programs to promote energy efficiency and reduce power consumption. This includes the UJALA program to provide LEDs at affordable rates, the smart meter program, the program to make buildings energy efficient.
According to EESL officials, these schemes have helped reduce electricity consumption by 52 billion units annually.
