Farmers doing natural farming in Himachal will be encouraged

Around 1.5 lakh farmers practicing natural farming in Himachal Pradesh will be certified under the Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana (PK3Y) along with encouraging them. Agriculture Secretary Rakesh Kanwar said according to a study, 28 per cent farmers have adopted natural farming techniques on their own, without any training and learning from each other. Therefore, in this financial year, the main focus of Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana will be on the consolidation of farmers doing natural farming.
Addressing a meeting of officials of the agriculture department to discuss the package-based agriculture development program in the state, he said that in the year 2023-24, about 1.5 lakh farmers practicing natural farming would be covered, said a statement issued here on Friday. Kanwar said that the focus should be on things like consolidation of existing farmers, increasing their area under natural farming, organizing workshops and capacity building training.
