Hyderabad : Noted filmmaker Kasinthuni Vishwanath, who was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 92 years old. Sources said that Vishwanath was ill for a long time and had age-related problems. He breathed his last at the hospital on Thursday late night. Vishwanath, popularly known as Kalatpaswi, was born in February 1930 in Andhra Pradesh.
Apart from Telugu cinema, he also gained a lot of popularity in Tamil and Hindi films. He was the 48th person to be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This award is considered the highest honor of Indian cinema. He was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2016. Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted, “Extremely saddened to hear about the passing away of noted film director K Viswanath.

Vishwanath, who started his career as a sound artist, directed hit films like ‘Shankarabharanam’, ‘Sagar Sangamam’, ‘Swathi Mutyam’, ‘Saptapadi’, ‘Kaamchor’, ‘Sanjog’ and ‘Jaag Utha Insaan’, which won him several awards. .
In his illustrious career, he also received the Padma Shri in 1992, the National Award five times, 20 Nandi Awards (an award given by the Andhra Pradesh government) and 10 Filmfare Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. Vishwanath made about 50 films in his career. Apart from being a well-known film producer in the Telugu film industry, he also worked for Tamil and Hindi cinema.
