New Delhi, 01 November (HS). Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reached Sri Lanka on Wednesday morning on a three-day official visit. Sitharaman was warmly welcomed by India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay upon her arrival at Colombo Airport.
Finance Ministry said on ‘X’ post that Finance Minister Sitharaman reached Sri Lanka today on a three-day official visit. Sitharaman was warmly welcomed by Sri Lanka’s Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development Minister Jeevan Thondaman at the Katunayake Airport in Colombo. Eastern Province Governor Senthil Thondaman, Minister of State for External Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya and MP Maruthapandi Rameswaran were present on the occasion.
According to the ministry, during this visit, Sitharaman will address the ‘Name Two Hundred’ conference organized by the Sri Lankan government on the occasion of completion of 200 years of the arrival of Tamils of Indian origin in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene will also attend the ceremony. The Finance Minister will also participate in important talks and diplomatic discussions during this visit.
