Haridwar railway station is historical
Haridwar railway station of Uttarakhand is historical. It was opened in the year 1886. Initially this railway station was part of Awadh and Rohilkhand Railway. After the departure of the British, it was made a part of the Moradabad division of the Northern Railway. Recognized as a major pilgrimage site for Hindus, the railway station of Haridwar has had good facilities since its inception. There is not only a second class waiting room, but a first class waiting room is also there from the beginning.
Now the first class waiting room has disappeared
A lot of effort is being made to modernize the Haridwar railway station. In the flood of this modernity, the first class waiting room has disappeared from this station. Railway employees say that in the year 2019, the then Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha had reached there. During that time many things were inaugurated. Only then the first class waiting room was converted into an AC lounge. Now passengers have to pay a charge of Rs 30 per passenger for every hour just to sit in it.
What is first class waiting room
First class waiting room was meant for passengers traveling in first class. In the British era, there were four classes in the railways. First Class, Second Class, Inter Class and Third Class. When the country became independent, the railway abolished all the classes and allowed two classes to remain, first class and second class. First class waiting room is available only for passengers traveling in first class.
These days its name has been changed
After independence, there were only two classes left in the railways. But at present there are at least eight classes in the Railways. There are generally two types of waiting rooms at railway stations, one is the second class waiting room and the other is the first class waiting room. The name of the first class waiting room has now been changed to upper class or upper class waiting room.
In which waiting room do the passengers of which class go
The second class waiting room can be used by passengers of second class, chair car and sleeper class. While the upper class waiting room can be used by ticket holders in air-conditioned class or AC class. It has been seen at some railway station that even those who have booked tickets in third AC are not allowed to enter the upper class waiting room.
