New flight rules: There may be a ban on the use of perfume by pilots and flight crew members in India. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has made this proposal.
If this is approved, pilots and flight crew members will not be allowed to wear perfume during flight. DGCA can take action against those found doing so. According to CNBC report, apart from perfumes, it has also been proposed to ban medicines and mouthwash products that contain alcohol. Breath analyzer test may be affected due to these products.
There is going to be a change in the method of medical test-
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has recently proposed a change in the method of its medical test. This is going to change the process of checking alcohol consumption for pilots and crew members. DGCA has said in its proposal that now crew members or pilots will not use any medicine, perfume or dental products that contain alcohol.
Due to this the test may come positive and after that action can also be taken against that employee. Along with this, it has also been said in this proposal that if any crew member takes such medicine then he will have to consult a doctor before that.
What is the reason behind the ban on perfume?
Perfume contains small amounts of alcohol. In such a situation, it is not clear in the proposed report whether a little alcohol present in the perfume can affect the breath analyzer test or not. The rules regarding alcohol for pilots and crew members in airlines in India are very strict. In such a situation, both airlines and DGCA do this test under camera surveillance.
