In the SOP, Delhi and four other metro airports have been asked to report about these incidents three times a day. Along with this, these airports as well as airlines will also set up ‘war rooms’ to solve the problems of passengers.

  • Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, in a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday, said reports regarding incidents have been sought three times a day for all six metro airports. Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata are metro airports.

  • ‘War rooms’ will be set up by airline operators and airports at the six metro airports to immediately resolve any issues regarding passenger inconvenience.

  • Adequate availability of CISF personnel will be ensured round the clock.

  • CAT-3 system was activated on Tuesday on Runway RWY 29L of Delhi Airport.

  • RWY 10/28 will be operated as CAT-3 after ‘re-carpeting’ work at the airport.

  • Currently, three out of four runways are operational at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi.

  • IGIA, the country’s largest airport, has four runways including RW 09/27, RW 11R/29L, RW 10/28 and RW 11L/29R. Of these, three runways including CAT-3 capable RW 11L/29R are operational.
