Fog will continue in Chandigarh, Haryana including Punjab, possibility of rain in South India

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said dense fog is likely to continue over parts of northwest and central India during the next three-four days. The weather forecasting agency said, the minimum temperature in most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh will be 6 to 10 degrees Celsius, while in Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, most parts of Madhya Pradesh and some parts of North Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. It is expected to be 11-12 degrees Celsius.
IMD said on Tuesday, temperatures are 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal in parts of Punjab, Delhi, West Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and many parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Gujarat and Northeast India. IMD has forecast that dense to very dense fog is likely to occur in many parts of Punjab in the early morning hours during Wednesday-Sunday. Dense fog is expected in parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during Wednesday-Friday and in isolated parts of North Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.
The Meteorological Department further said, there is a possibility of dense fog in the morning in many areas of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on different days this week. The IMD has also said that a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from Saturday. Under its influence and low level easterly winds, there is a possibility of light rain over northwest and adjoining central India during December 30 to January 2.
However, the IMD said that there is no possibility of any significant change in the minimum temperature over the northern parts of the country during the next five days. Due to heavy fog on Tuesday morning, visibility reached 25 meters in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala of Punjab, while Visibility also reduced to 25 meters in Ambala, Hisar and Karnal of Haryana, while visibility in Bhiwani was 50 meters.
In Delhi, visibility was recorded at 50 meters at Palam station, while visibility was 25 meters in Jhansi and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, 50 meters in Meerut and Lucknow. The IMD said visibility was recorded at 25 meters in Satna in eastern Madhya Pradesh, visibility was 50 meters in other cities of the state including Tikamgarh, Rewa, Khajuraho and low visibility of 50 meters in Rourkela in Odisha.
