Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) continue to invest in Indian stock markets. In the first fortnight of July, FPIs have invested over Rs 30,600 crore on a net basis in Indian stock markets. The attraction of FPIs towards Indian markets continues amid strong economic growth of the country and better quarterly results of companies. If this trend of FPIs continues, then their investment in stocks in July may exceed that of May and June. Foreign investors had invested Rs 43,838 crore in equities in May and Rs 47,148 crore in June.
Depository data shows that FPI investment in stock markets has reached Rs 1.07 lakh crore so far this year. Market analysts believe that the outlook for FPI inflows into Indian equities remains positive. VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist, Geojit Financial Services, said, “The only concern is rising valuations. Valuations in China are now more attractive than in India. In such a situation, FPIs cannot stick to the ‘Sell in China, Buy in India’ policy for long. According to the data, so far this month i.e. till July 14, FPIs have put Rs 30,660 crore in Indian stocks.
His investment in the Indian stock markets continues since March. Before March, foreign investors had collectively pulled out Rs 34,626 crore from equities in January and February.
