Amidst this growing controversy, Federation of Western India Cine Employees i.e. FWICE has appealed to all filmmakers and producers to boycott Maldives. Now Federation of Western India Cine Employees i.e. FWICE has also issued a press release appealing to the makers not to shoot in Maldives. Along with this he has also given an advice. He has said that instead of shooting in Maldives, film makers should shoot the film at some other similar place in India and contribute to the development of tourism. The Federation wrote… The Federation wrote in its press release, “There is an atmosphere of tension after the derogatory remarks made by three ministers of Maldives. In such a situation, FWICE, the oldest federation of workers, technicians and artists working in media and industry, has taken a decision. FWICE condemns the irresponsible and wrong remarks of Maldivian Ministers regarding globally respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi and decides to boycott Maldives. The release further said that in solidarity with the nation and its broader culture, FWICE has decided to boycott Maldives and its shooting locations. Instead, FWICE appeals to its members to shoot at similar locations in India and contribute to the development of tourism in India. Additionally, producers around the world are advised not to plan any shooting in Maldives. We all stand with our PM and the nation.” What is the whole controversy? Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted some pictures of Lakshadweep to promote tourism. In such a situation, people started searching more about Lakshadweep. People started saying on social media that when there is such a beautiful place in India then why go anywhere else. Maldivian ministers did not like this and made derogatory remarks towards the Prime Minister. In such a situation, celebs came out in support of the Prime Minister and started promoting Lakshadweep. The result was that the government there suspended those leaders.
