Troubled airline GoFirst on Monday discussed its revival plans with officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The company is going through the insolvency process. A source said that the meeting took place in the national capital. The meeting comes after the DGCA last week asked the airline to submit a revival plan within 30 days. The company had filed an application for voluntary insolvency resolution process on May 2. He applied for this, expressing his inability to continue operations due to non-availability of engine from American company Pratt & Whitney.
The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) had accepted the company’s application on May 10. A source told PTI, “The DGCA on Monday called the entire management team of GoFirst to discuss the revival plan. In the meeting, the team briefed about the revival plan.” Without giving details, he said that all the concerned parties wanted to see the aircraft flying. The company’s operations have been closed since May 3. For the time being, it has suspended operations till May 30. The source said, “The airline will give detailed information about the way forward. As of now, it is moving in the right direction.” He indicated that flight operations may remain suspended for a few more days as the DGCA will take some time before taking a final decision on the revival plan.
