The price of gold remained unchanged at Rs 66,400 per 10 grams in the bullion market of the national capital on Monday. HDFC Securities gave this information. Gold held its ground in latest trade after hitting all-time high in the previous close.
“Gold prices remained steady on Monday after hitting a new all-time high in the previous session,” said Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst (Commodities), HDFC Securities.
However, silver prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 75,500 per kg, compared to Rs 75,600 per kg in previous trade. In the international market, spot gold in Comex (commodity market) was trading strongly at $ 2,180 an ounce and silver at $ 24.29 an ounce.
“US employment remained higher than forecast in February, while wage growth slowed, according to data released Friday,” Gandhi said. This indicated healthy economic growth and moderate inflation.
Praveen Singh, associate vice president, ‘Fundamental Currencies and Commodities’ department at BNP Paribas Buy Sharekhan, said traders will be awaiting US macroeconomic data, including consumer price index (CPI) data on Tuesday. These data will provide further direction for precious metal prices.
