According to a report in the Economic Times, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, in its meeting held on 30 January 2023 in Kutch, Gujarat, has decided to increase the wages of workers from Rs 7.50 per lachha to Rs 10 per lachha to increase their income. With this decision of the commission, the monthly income of the artisans will increase by about 33 percent. At the same time, the income of weavers will increase by 10 percent. According to the report, the increase in wages of Khadi workers will be made effective from April 1, 2023.

Khadi and Village Industries Commission Chairman Manoj Kumar said that in the financial year 2021-2022, the production of Khadi and Village Industries products was Rs 84,290 crore and the sale was Rs 1,15,415 crore. On October 2 this year, Khadi India’s Connaught Place outlet created a new record by selling Khadi products worth Rs 1.34 crore in a single day.
