Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday that the country’s goods and services exports are likely to exceed $750 billion in the current financial year despite global economic uncertainties. In the financial year 2021-22, the country’s goods exports reached $ 422 billion and service exports reached $ 254 billion, the highest in history. With this, the combined export of goods and services stood at $676 billion. Addressing the Raisina Dialogue 2023 conference held here, Goyal said, “We crossed the $650 billion mark in goods and services exports in the last financial year. This year we are aiming for an even bigger figure.
We have crossed last year’s mark and are now looking forward to cross $750 billion mark.” India’s exports fell 6.6 per cent to $32.91 billion in January for the second month in a row due to a slowdown in global demand. During April to January this fiscal, merchandise exports grew by 8.5 per cent to 369.25 per cent while services exports are estimated at $272 billion during the period. He hoped that by the year 2030, India’s goods and services exports would reach two trillion dollars. When asked about the growing trade deficit with China, Goyal said the government was stressing on domestic manufacturing of quality products which would help in reducing imports.
