There will be a 6 meter wide roof plaza at Gorakhpur railway station. In addition, it will have two additional foot bridges, separate arrangements for arrival and departure. Along with this, there is also a proposal to build a multifunctional complex and a hotel. There will also be arrangement for shopping mall, central mall, commercial block and budget hotel near the station. It has been designed according to the needs of the future.

According to the North Eastern Railway, this station will be constructed in 17,900 square meters. Along with this, a second entry gate will be made in 7400 square meters. The proposed concourse will be built in 6300 square meters. It will have the facility of seating 35 people simultaneously. The existing capacity of two wheeler and three wheeler parking inside the station is 427 which will be increased to 838.

Nepal will also benefit from the redevelopment of Gorakhpur railway station along with the surrounding districts. About 93,000 passengers travel daily from here. It is being developed keeping in mind the needs of the next 50 years. By that time, the daily traffic of about 1,68,000 passengers is estimated at Gorakhpur Junction. The Prime Minister will also flag off the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express.
