Government directs e-commerce companies to remove Bournvita, other drinks from health drinks category

New Delhi: The government has directed all e-commerce companies to remove various beverages including Bournvita from the category of healthy beverages from their portals.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in an advisory to all e-commerce companies, said that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), a statutory body constituted under section (iii) of the CrPC Act 2005, has After investigation under Section 14 of the FSS Act 2006, there is no ‘healthy beverage’ defined under the rules and regulations promulgated by FSSAI and Mondelez India Food Pvt. Ltd.
The order has been issued on 10 April 2024. It said that all e-commerce companies/portals are advised to remove Bournvita and other beverages from the category of healthy drinks from their platforms/sites.
