The report said that the government has also decided to sell 1.5 million tonnes of wheat to bulk consumers and traders from the central pool in the first phase under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS).

Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra said that there is no plan to change the policy to reduce the import duty on wheat as there is enough supply in the country. He made it clear that the ban on export of wheat will also continue.
