Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a statement that the government securities and foreign exchange markets will remain open on Thursday and Friday. The Maharashtra government has declared September 29 as a public holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. The previously announced public holiday of 28 September 2023 was cancelled.
“It is in the public interest to ensure smooth functioning of the financial markets and non-disruptive settlement of transactions, particularly in view of the quarter/half year end, in the government securities market, foreign exchange market, currency Apart from September 28, 2023, the market and rupee interest rate derivatives market will also remain open on September 29, 2023.” According to the statement, the auction of Government of India treasury bills held on Wednesday (September 27) will be settled on September 29. The auction of Government of India dated securities scheduled for September 29 will now be held on September 28, with settlement on September 29. Underwriting auction for sale of government securities will also be held on September 28.
