Indore: Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday said the government plans to connect 21 more airports in the country with the ‘Krishi Udaan’ scheme to ensure faster air transport of perishable agriculture, horticulture and fishery products. Scindia was interacting with the media after attending the ongoing meeting of Agriculture Deputy Chiefs under India’s G20 presidency in Indore. At present, at least 31 airports in the country are connected to the Krishi Udaan scheme, he said. I am discussing with the Ministry of Defense to add 21 more airports to this scheme. Has been successful.
Scindia cited the example that lemons, jackfruit and grapes produced in Northeast India are reaching not only other parts of the country but also Germany, England, Singapore and the Philippines through this scheme. The second day of the G20 meeting saw detailed deliberations on four priority areas of food security and nutrition, sustainable farming with eco-friendly methods, inclusive agricultural value chains and digitization of food supply systems and agricultural transformation. On Wednesday, the last day of the meeting, the major solutions proposed by the Agriculture Working Group will be discussed by the representatives. Officials said that 89 agriculture representatives from 30 countries are participating in the three-day meeting organized in Indore, the cleanest city of India.
