New Delhi. The GST Council will discuss some more measures on July 11 to crack down on frauds by way of fake registrations and Input Tax Credit (ITC). “We are considering some other measures to check tax evasion and they will be implemented through due process of law committee and GST Council,” Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs Chairman Vivek Johri told reporters. The 50th meeting of the GST Council is to be held on 11 July. The Council will also discuss the report of the GoM on the issue of taxation of online gaming, casinos and horse racing.
The Group of Ministers (GoM) submitted its report to the Council in December last year, but the Council has not taken it up for discussion. Besides this, the council will also decide on the convenor of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on rate rationalisation. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was till now the convener of the committee. Now with the change of government in Karnataka, the council has to elect a new convenor. The GST authorities have already launched a two-month special drive against fake registrations.
