Gujarat now recognized as ”petro capital” of India: Officials

The sustained growth of the chemicals and petrochemicals sector has left all (other states) behind.” Officials said at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2019, the bio-tech industry in the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) in Dahej. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 3,000 crore was signed for the refinery.

It will be organized in the state capital Gandhinagar between January 10 and 12. Jai Shroff, Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), UPL Limited, recently praised Gujarat’s progressive policies for the significant growth of the sector. He said, “Thanks to the support given by the Gujarat government, leading companies in this sector have scaled new heights in the global market. These companies started as small units but have now become big companies.
As a result of proactive government policies, the state contributes about 75 per cent of the total dye and intermediate manufacturing in the country.” The Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Zone at Dahej in Bharuch district of Gujarat is one of the four PCPIRs announced by the Center under the PCPIR Policy 2007.
