Bank closed on March 7 in eight states
Banks will remain closed for a total of six days in the next eight days i.e. from March 5 to March 12. Banks will remain closed all over India due to Sunday, March 5. There will be holiday in banks on March 7, 8 and 9 on account of Holi festival. Whereas on March 11, there will be second Saturday holiday and on March 12, there will be a Sunday holiday. Bank holidays vary depending on state and local holidays. This week banks will open only on March 6 and March 10. However, online services will remain operational in banks. According to the banking calendar of RBI, banks will remain closed on March 7, 2023 (Tuesday) in some states on the occasion of Holika Dahan. This includes Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Jammu, UP’s Kanpur and Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Ranchi and Srinagar.
Banks will remain closed on March 8 on account of Holi in some cities including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Aizawl, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Gangtok. On March 9, there will be a bank holiday in Bihar on the second day of Holi or Osang. However, online and net banking services will continue to be available to customers in the meantime. Individuals can use them in case of urgent help from the bank.
Banks can remain closed two days a week
Bank employees can also get two days off in a week. According to the Times of India report, talks are going on between the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and the United Forum of Bank Employees regarding working of 5 days a week. It has also been said in this report that if this happens then the working hours of the employees can be increased by 40 minutes for the rest of the day.
