At the same time, in the midst of increasing violence in Pakistan, the army has been deployed in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan except Sindh province. PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary was arrested late night and Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday morning on charges of inciting violence. The police have so far detained around 1900 leaders and workers of Imran’s party.
Since the arrest of Imran on May 9, so far 8 people have died in the violent protests, while 290 people have been injured. On Wednesday, Imran Khan was sent on remand to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for 8 days. The army gave the first official reaction on the violence. Said, ‘The day of May 9 will be seen as a black chapter in the history of Pakistan.’
