HRA of government employees also increased

7th Pay Commission: A big gift has been given to the government employees by the Central Government before Holi. Dearness allowance of employees has been increased by four percent. After this, the total dearness allowance has become 50 percent. According to the agreement of the Seventh Pay Commission, now the House Rent Allowance of the employees (House Rent Allowance) has also been increased. The government has increased the house rent allowance by three percent. Now employees living in X category will get 30 percent dearness allowance instead of 27 percent. Due to increase in HRA of employees, the burden on the government treasury has increased by Rs 9 thousand crores.

How much HRA increased in which city?

According to the agreement of the Seventh Pay Commission, the HRA of the employees has been divided according to the category of cities. The employees living here will now get 30 percent dearness allowance of the basic pay. Also, HRA of employees living in Y category has increased by two percent. Now he will get 20 percent HRA instead of 18 percent of basic pay. People living in Z category earlier used to get HRA of nine percent of basic pay. They will now get 10 percent i.e. their HRA has increased by only one percent.

Which city falls in which category?

Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata have been kept in X category. Whereas, Patna, Ranchi, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Vijayawada, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Raipur, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Vadodara, Surat, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Jammu, Srinagar, Gwalior, Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Sangli, Solapur, Nashik, Nanded, Bhiwadi, Amravati, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Moradabad, Meerut, Bareilly, Aligarh, Agra, Cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Firozabad, Jhansi, Varanasi, Saharanpur have been kept in Y category. How many months’ arrears will be received?

Dearness Allowance and HRA have been increased by the Central Government from January 1, 2024. This means that there will be arrears of three months in the salary credited at the end of March. Let us tell you that this is the fourth consecutive time that the Central Government has increased the dearness allowance by four percent.
