According to a recent report, Samsung’s upcoming “Galaxy Z Fold 5” smartphone will not feature Chinese foldable panels. The tech giant is expected to manufacture panels for its upcoming foldables, which may feature a teardrop hinge design. Making its foldable phone thinner is Samsung’s top priority for 2023. Display analyst Ross Young also recently claimed that Samsung will be manufacturing the display for its upcoming foldable device.
The new Z Fold 5 smartphone is speculated to feature a “droplet” style hinge, which will likely reduce its display crease, and may also include water resistance and a 108MP primary rear camera. It is also expected to have an in-built Stylus Pen (S Pen) slot, according to tipster Ice Universe.
This move away from Chinese foldable panels could be in response to the ongoing tensions between Samsung and the Chinese government. Previously, the company had faced issues with the Chinese government regarding its operations in the country. Samsung is yet to confirm these reports, but consumers are excited to see what innovations the new foldable smartphone will bring.
