IND vs ENG: Shock to India, KL Rahul out of third test, this player got entry in the team
[ad_1]
Senior Indian batsman KL Rahul failed to fully recover from his quadriceps injury, ruling him out of the third Test against England on Monday. Due to this injury, he could not play even in the second test in Visakhapatnam. It is clear from this that Karnataka’s left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal will replace Rahul in the team. The third test match between India and England will be played between 15 February and 19 February. Currently, India has won one match and England has won one match in the five-match series.
Ravindra Jadeja joins the team, doubts about playing in the third test
Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) source said, KL Rahul has not reached Rajkot yet. Local player Ravindra Jadeja has joined the team. His inclusion in the team was dependent on fitness and the BCCI medical team still does not feel that he is match fit. The selectors had included Rahul and Jadeja in the team only after getting the green signal from the BCCI medical team.
Padikkal gets reward for his excellent performance in Ranji Trophy
In the recent Ranji Trophy match, 23-year-old Padikkal scored 151 runs and chief selector Ajit Agarkar was watching his innings from the stands. Padikkal has been in excellent form this domestic season, scoring 193 runs against Punjab and 103 runs against Goa in the first Ranji Trophy match. Apart from Ranji, Padikkal scored 105, 65 and 21 runs in three innings of two unofficial Tests for India ‘A’ against England Lions.
Sarfaraz Khan may get a chance
Rahul’s exclusion from the third and fourth Tests may open doors for Sarfaraz Khan in the middle order as Shreyas Iyer has also been dropped. If Jadeja takes his place in the playing eleven then there will be more confusion regarding the selection. Axar Patel has batted well in the two Tests so far and Kuldeep Yadav was the second best Indian bowler after Jasprit Bumrah in Visakhapatnam. As far as wicketkeeper is concerned, time is running out for KS Bharat as Dhruv Jurel is waiting for his turn. But Bharat may still get his last chance in Rajkot.
