Independence Day 2023: What kind of freedom are we in favor of?

August 15 is a day of pride for every Indian because on this day India got freedom from the slavery of the British. There is a different emotion and enthusiasm in the heart and mind of every citizen of the country regarding Independence Day. However, after years of slavery, in what form we are able to preserve the freedom we got from these chains of slavery, it is in front of everyone. It has been 76 years since the independence of the country, but in these 76 years of independence, how much the condition of the Parliament and Legislative Assemblies, the holy places of democracy, has changed year after year, that too is not hidden from anyone, where public representatives crossing the limits of indecency indulge in indecency. They seem to be crossing all limits. Every year, along with the freedom of the country, standing under the tricolor, the symbol of pride and glory of the nation, we see many people’s representatives taking a pledge to protect and progress the country, who are seen openly tearing democracy throughout the year. So the same question arises in the mind that what does the country gain by paying such a pledge? Freedom lovers would never have thought even in their dreams that the picture of freedom for the country for which they are making so many sacrifices would become like this.

However, after attaining independence, the country has taken rapid steps on the path of development and has set several stages of development. The country has reached space by acquiring technical skills, but the way the incidents of misbehavior with women are increasing continuously and the number of crimes in the society is also increasing, in such a situation, some elders who have seen the era of slavery of the country, now even listen to say It is known that the days of slavery were much better than today’s freedom, where there was fear in the mind regarding crimes, but despite the strict laws being made, now there is no fear in the mind of the criminals. Increasing cases of crimes against innocent girls and women coming from every corner of the country are presenting a very shameful picture of freedom. Inflation in the country is increasing like Sursa, living for the middle class is becoming difficult day by day, incidents of terrorism are spreading rapidly, the fire of reservation continues to burn the country. Such situations definitely become a hindrance in the path of development of the country. Everyone is seen baking their own political breads around the power, somewhere some are trying to save the power and somewhere some are trying to topple it. Uproar pictures in Parliament and Assemblies are no longer a new thing.

After independence, the political form of reservation, implemented with the intention of improving the status of the weaker sections in the country on the social and economic aspect, has brought the country to the crossroad today, where the whole nation seems to be entangled in the midst of ethnic conflict. . Selfish politics has distorted the atmosphere in such a way that it is not possible to get out of it. In these seven and a half decades after independence, inflation, corruption and crime have increased so much that the life of the common man has become difficult. No matter how many drums are beaten for cracking down on corruption, but the reality is that even today in most of the places the works are not completed without transactions. Leave aside the big leaders, small leaders have also become silver. This changing form of democracy after independence has badly destroyed the basic spirit of independence.

One shameful aspect of freedom is that except for a few cases, public representatives decorated with heinous crimes like murder, corruption, rape, often lead a dignified life. What form of freedom are being exposed by these changed conditions of the country, it is worth considering. It has become necessary for the people of the country, who are standing on the margin of democracy, to re-think in this direction that what kind of freedom they are in favor of? Today’s freedom, where the mind is free along with the body, to do everything, even if it is harmful to the country, or the kind of freedom where there is a restriction on every step that is harmful to the country. Today’s freedom, where self-interest is taking precedence over the national interest and the feeling of patriotism, or that freedom, where the spirit of patriotism generated in the minds of lakhs of anonymous martyrs in liberating the country, assuming the paramount form of national interest, is again in everyone.
