Describing skill development among youth as key to making India the world’s third largest economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his government is determined to take its benefits to all sections of society. Addressing a job fair organized by the Gujarat government in Gandhinagar virtually on Monday, the Prime Minister said that his government is focusing on creating maximum employment opportunities through infrastructure and development projects and by promoting manufacturing.

Apart from this, attention is also being given to the neglected areas since independence. He said that to make the country the third largest economy instead of the fifth largest economy in the world, the youth have to be skilled. He stressed the need for skilled manpower to take advantage of the employment opportunities in various sectors. Modi said, “We need skilled manpower on a large scale for the new opportunities being created in the country. India can achieve the goal of becoming the third largest economy in the world only by making its youth skilled.

India is currently the fifth largest economy in the world. A target has been set to make it the third largest economy. The Prime Minister said, “We are trying that the benefits of skill development should reach every section of the society, be it Dalits, Adivasis or women. We are trying to ensure that all people get equal opportunities to move forward. He said that a large number of jobs are being created in the country due to his government’s holistic approach towards development.

He said that all the departments of the Central Government along with the State Governments of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are trying to provide employment to maximum youth. On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that about 18 lakh youth have got employment in Gujarat in the last few years through the ‘Employment Department’. Along with this, he said, “The state government has also given about one and a half lakh government jobs in the last five years.” There is a plan to provide 25,000 government jobs in the year 2023 as well. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was also present at the job fair organized at the Mahatma Mandir convention center in Gandhinagar. During this, about 2,500 youths were handed over letters of appointment in government services.
