New Delhi: India’s smartphone exports to the US increased to US $ 3.53 billion during April-December in the current financial year, from US $ 998 million in the same period of the financial year 2022-23.
According to Commerce Ministry data, India’s share in smartphone exports increased to 7.76 percent during April-December in the current financial year, which was 2 percent in the same period of the last financial year.
An official said exports were boosted by growth in smartphone manufacturing. With this, India has become the third largest smartphone exporter to America. China is in first place and Vietnam is in second place.
The share of China and Vietnam in smartphone exports to the US has declined during the first nine months of the current financial year. Smartphone exports to the US from the top five suppliers declined to $45.1 billion in April-December 2023 from $49.1 billion in April-December 2022.
China exported smartphones worth $35.1 billion to America during the period under review, which was $38.26 billion in the same period last year. Similarly, Vietnam’s exports to America declined to $5.47 billion.
