Inflation in Pakistan is 46 percent, at the highest level ever

islamabad (Best Hindu News): Short-term inflation as measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) rose to a year-on-year high of 46.65 per cent in the week ended March 22 as compared to the previous week. According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data, media reports say it is 45.64 per cent annually. Sama TV reported that on a week-on-week basis, short-term inflation rose by 1.80 percent due to costlier tomatoes, potatoes and wheat flour. For the current week ended March 22, the SPI registered an increase of 1.80 per cent.
According to Sama TV, the major increase in the prices of food articles was seen – tomato (71.77 percent), wheat flour (42.32 percent), potato (11.47 percent), banana (11.07 percent), tea Lipton (7.34 percent), dal mash (1.57 per cent), tea preparations (1.32 per cent) and molasses (1.03 per cent), and non-edible items such as georgette (2.11 per cent), lawn (1.77 per cent) and long cloth (1.58 per cent).
On the other hand, a decrease in the price of chicken (8.14 per cent), chilli powder (2.31 per cent), LPG (1.31 per cent), mustard oil and garlic (1.19 per cent), dal chana and onion (1.19 per cent) was observed. 1.06 percent each), vanaspati ghee 1 kg (0.83 percent), cooking oil 5 liters (0.21 percent), dal moong (0.17 percent), dal masoor (0.15 percent), and eggs (0.03 percent).
Out of 51 commodities, the prices of 26 (50.98 per cent) commodities increased, 12 (23.53 per cent) decreased, and 13 (25.49 per cent) remained unchanged during the week.
46.65 percent YoY trend, Onion (228.28 percent), Cigarette (165.88 percent), Wheat flour (120.66 percent), Gas duty for Q1 (108.38 percent), Diesel (102.84 percent), Tea Lipton (94.60 percent) Banana (89.84 per cent), Rice Eri-6/9 (81.51 per cent), Rice Basmati broken (81.22 per cent), Petrol (81.17 per cent), Eggs (79.56 per cent), Lentils (68.64 per cent), Moong (68.64 per cent), Potato (57.21 per cent) and dal mash (56.46 per cent) have shown an increase, while the price of ground chilli (9.56 per cent) has shown a decrease.
