Now insurance regulator IRDA has asked general insurance and health insurance companies to bring special insurance plans for disabled, HIV and AIDS victims and mentally ill people.
Insurance regulator IRDA has asked general insurance and health insurance companies to come out with special insurance products for differently abled, HIV and AIDS victims and mentally ill people. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has said in a circular that insurance companies will have to determine the price of dedicated insurance products for these special people in accordance with the provisions of the IRDA (Health Insurance) Regulations, 2016.
The insurance regulator said that insurance companies should come up with such a policy that the situation of denial of claims of Divyang, HIV and AIDS victims and mentally ill people does not arise. IRDA has directed insurance companies to compulsorily bring such a policy. These instructions have been issued for general and health insurance sector companies.
