International Women’s Day: Air India’s all-women flight on International Women’s Day – air india group set to fly over 90 all-women crew flights to celebrate international women’s day all details
New Delhi:National airline Air India has also saluted the talent of women on International Women’s Day. Air India has scheduled a total of more than 90 all-women crew flights with Air India Express and Air Asia India to mark International Women’s Day. The number is also significant in connection with the 90th anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata’s first commercial flight. Explain that Air India Group is operating all these women crew flights on international and domestic routes from 1 March 2023. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘DigitalAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’. The theme showcases how women have contributed and taken the aviation sector beyond. Most of the flights this year to domestic and 12 international destinations have seen a significant number of women in cabin and cockpit crew.
The number of women in Air India’s total employees is more than 40 percent. Out of 1825 pilots of Air India, 275 are women. This makes it the airline with the largest number of women pilots. Speaking on the occasion, Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director, Air India said that India has the largest number of commercial female pilots in the world. He said that today Air India is proud of the women workforce with us. He informed that in most of the flights, the cockpit and cabin crew will be provided with women dispatcher, security and loader, engineer, security services. Air India has traditionally been operating all women crew flights in various international and domestic flights for over four decades. Air India Express and Air Asia India have more than a third of the female workforce. Both the airlines have a total of 97 women pilots.
According to Alok Singh, CEO of Air India Express and President of Air Asia India, he strives for equal representation of women in his workforce and especially in the leadership. She is proud to have women in key positions, especially in roles that have traditionally been considered the bastion of men.
