Interview: Actor Manjot Singh is happy to see his work being appreciated in the film Dream Girl 2

Be it ‘Fukrey’ or ‘Dream Girl 2’, co-star Manjot Singh, who has made a mark with his performances in all of them, is yet to find the space he is looking for in acting. He himself says that as a supporting artist, the hunger of any artist does not go away, but increases. The film ‘Dream Girl 2’ released last Friday, also starring actor Manjot Singh in a stellar role. ‘Journalist Dr. Ramesh Thakur’ had a detailed conversation with him regarding future plans.

Q: What does an artiste need, the applause of the audience or the recognition of stardom?

Answer- When the audience starts clapping after seeing the work of an artist. Then, it should be understood, the artist’s career is in the right direction. As for stardom, if anyone cared about it, their careers would be bleak before they even started. When an artist gets engrossed in the acting world, then his hunger for work increases further. Khuda Na Khasta, the day that hunger subsided, then understand the ‘the end’ of the career? Artist should always take care of his audience.

Q: How is your role in ‘Dream Girl 2’ and has there been any change in the story this time?

Answer- See, the films which are hits in the past, then some changes are definitely made in its next franchise. The previous story has been carried forward from where it left off. As far as my role is concerned, director Raaj Shandilya sir has given me a good space. All my scenes are strong. All my knowledgeable friends who have seen the film are all appreciating that I have done a good job.

Q: It seems that your roles in films are limited to supporting roles?

Answer- It is not so. I am just beginning. There is still a long way to go in the future. Yes, it is definitely so, my favorite role and big space have not been found yet. There are some projects that are to be done in the future, I will have a lot of roles in them. Wahe Guru ki ki rahe rahe, will be seen in strong roles in the future. Happy with my current job, but not satisfied? I hope the audience likes my role in ‘Dream Girl 2’.

Q: Do you plan to do anything beyond comedy roles?

Answer- Laughing, why not? In today’s time, people who make you cry will be found everywhere, but there are very few people who make you laugh? There is a huge demand from the audience that there should be a tinge of comedy in the films, that is why every director uses comedy scenes in his films. Look, as far as I am concerned, I consider myself fit for all kinds of roles. Be it action, comedy or romantic. An artist is perfect only when he is proficient in a variety of genres.

Q: Which other films are you coming up with?

Answer- Fukrey-3 is about to release. A lot of new spice has been added in the upcoming episode of Fukrey. Scenes filled with tremendous locations have been used. The inclusion of both comedy-action will be seen. Apart from this, there are some unnamed projects whose shooting is going on.
