Kolkata. Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on Monday that there is an investment opportunity of Rs 1 lakh crore in the port and logistics sector in West Bengal. He expressed confidence of more support from domestic and international investors in the 2023 edition of the Global Maritime India Summit.
The minister said this at the Kolkata roadshow for the summit. The conference will be held in New Delhi from 17 to 19 October. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sonowal is expecting participation from over 100 countries in the upcoming event and a higher number of delegates than the previous 2021 edition of the summit. The minister said, 475 MoUs worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore were signed in the conference two years ago. He also said that 75 per cent of the MoUs are ‘under implementation’.
