Isha Ambani may soon buy your favorite international beauty brand

Isha Ambani, daughter of India’s biggest industrialist Mukesh Ambani, is currently in talks to buy Italian beauty brand Kiko Milano in India. The aim of this strategic move is to strengthen Reliance’s hold in the beauty market. Competition is to intensify with key rivals like Nykaa and Shoppers Stop. The talks follow the recent acquisition of Sephora beauty business by Reliance Retail in November last year, worth Rs 216 crore, Financial Express reported.

Sources say talks are underway to secure a 51:49 Indian joint venture between Italy’s Percassi Group and New Delhi-based DLF Brands. The joint venture currently oversees 8-10 Kiko Milano stores spread across Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru and Noida.

Reliance Retail has not yet responded to this.

The potential deal, estimated to be worth around Rs 100 crore, may include franchise rights for the Kiko Milano brand within India. Responding to enquiries, Reliance Retail refrained from commenting on media speculations and rumors and maintained its stance of continuously evaluating various opportunities. Reports suggest that Reliance Retail is strategically expanding its portfolio of beauty retail brands to enter the growing beauty and personal care (BPC) market in India. The company has already forayed into the beauty space with Tira, a premium offline and online beauty app launched last year, serving tier 2 and 3 cities with blushless, value-focused beauty and innerwear products .

While Sephora targets the mid-to-premium segment, Kiko Milano, as an international brand, caters to the premium end of the BPC market. With Reliance Retail’s growing presence in the beauty sector, India is emerging as an attractive target for global brands looking for expansion opportunities.
