Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has revealed that preparations are underway to start operations of India’s first bullet train by 2026. He announced that the Bullet Train service will be operated between Surat and Bilimora.

270 km long wire duct was installed

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said at the 2024 Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gujarat that we are working on a plan to run the first bullet train between Surat and Bilimora in 2026. According to the update given by Vaishnav regarding the Bullet Train, 270 km of ground work for the Bullet Train has already been completed. He told that 270 km long wire duct has been installed. The work is continuing as per schedule. Mumbai-Thane undersea tunnel work has also started. Construction of bridges on the eight rivers falling on the route is going on at a rapid pace. Two bridges have already been completed. The work of Sabarmati Terminal Station has also been almost completed.

Let us discuss here that the responsibility of the Bullet Train Project is with the National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The Railway Minister said that 100 percent land acquisition for the project in Maharashtra has been completed and construction of structures is going on as per the schedule. The terminal work at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad is almost complete, while the foundation work has also been done at BKC Complex in Mumbai.

There is a delay due to land acquisition

If you remember, the Bullet Train Project came into existence in 2016. After this, its foundation stone was laid in 2017. The target was to complete the project by December 2023, but it got delayed due to problems in land acquisition. However, now the land acquisition work has been completed and construction work is also going on at a fast pace in many sections. The Railways has not announced till now how long the train will operate on the entire route.

What will be the speed of bullet train?

According to the news coming out, the total distance of Bullet Train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be 508 kilometers. Talking about the maximum speed of bullet train, it will be up to 320 kilometers per hour. The journey between the two cities will be completed in 2 hours 7 minutes. At present this distance is covered by train in about 5 hours.
