Jharkhand: National level football player Rajkishore Baski is no more

Footballer Rajkishore Baski, resident of Kurumpahari village of Dumka Sadar block and who performed brilliantly in many national level competitions between 1986-90, is no more. He was 55 years old and was ill for the last few days. He breathed his last on Tuesday evening. Rajkishore had captained the football team of Bhagalpur University and under his leadership this university won the East Zone Championship at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. He also represented Dumka district 15 times in Moinul Haq Trophy. He played from the central half and played an important role in making the team win with his enthusiasm. He was also a member of the Referee Association and remained associated with the game throughout his life. Born on January 01, 1968, Rajkishore studied at St. Joseph’s High School, Guhiyajori. He passed matriculation from there in 1984.
Had played Moinul Haq Trophy 15 times
In 1988-89, when Indian team’s famous goalkeeper Peter Thangaraj came to the Ravi Mehta Trophy, he greatly appreciated Rajkishore’s play and he himself offered him to play for many big teams. He got job opportunities many times, but due to his love for sports and players, he never left the football field. He left behind his wife, two sons and two daughters. Hearing the news of his demise, former minister Dr. Lois Marandi, former footballer Brentius Kisku, Jeevan Hembram, Bibi Guha, Yogesh Chandra Murmu, Dinesh Murmu, Mahendra Tudu, Mahendra Hansda, Raymond Hembram, Ramesh Tudu, Shivdhan Hembram, Motilal Besra, Saint Joseph School Baxibandh Principal of Father Alusius Murmu, Father Bernard Murmu etc. have expressed deep condolences. A large number of football lovers, his fans and relatives had attended his funeral. There is mourning in the sports world of Dumka due to his untimely demise.
