Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) on Monday during its 46th Annual General Meeting 2023 address, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio AirFiber will be launched on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 19 this year. Ambani said Reliance Jio was launched seven years ago with an ambitious mission of transforming India into a premier digital society. Jio has been the main catalyst of the spectacular digital transformation of New India. Now our ambitions have extended beyond the shores of India.
Ambani said that we started 5G rollout last October. In 9 months, Jio 5G is already present in over 96 percent of the census towns. And we are on our way to cover the entire country by December 23rd. This makes Jio 5G the fastest 5G rollout in the world so far. Ambani said, with over 50 million 5G customers, Jio is already leading 5G adoption in India. And we are the only company with the ability to easily convert our entire 4G customer base to 5G with minimal additional capital expenditure. With the growing acceptance of Jio 5G, we are also witnessing an increasing trend of high-ARPU, post-paid customers choosing Jio as their preferred network.
Reliance Industries Ltd has cumulatively invested $150 billion over the past 10 years, the largest investment by any Indian corporate, its chairman and managing director Ambani said on Monday. Speaking at the AGM, Ambani said that Reliance has been the harbinger of an emerging New India. “We have set seemingly impossible goals and achieved them,” he said. Ambani said that today, about 85 percent of the total 5G cells operational in India are in Jio’s network. At our current pace, we are adding one 5G cell to our network every 10 seconds, and by December we will have nearly 1 million 5G cells operational.
