This estimate has been revealed in a survey conducted by job portal Naukri.com among 1,400 employers. According to this survey report released on Thursday, only 4 percent of the participants have expressed the possibility of layoffs in the first half of the year. However, the survey conducted among the employers of 10 sectors shows that the IT industry may be hit the most by layoffs in the next few months. Apart from this, jobs related to business development, marketing, human resources and operations can also be cut.
Most retrenchment of senior professionals
The survey says that most of the layoffs are expected to be of professionals posted in senior positions. About 20 percent of the employers have made such an estimate. At the same time, the effect of retrenchment is expected to be the least on young employees who have recently started their careers.
15 percent employees can leave the job
According to the survey, in the first half of the year, almost half of the employers have expressed the possibility of employee attrition rate to be more than 15 percent. The maximum share in this is expected to remain in the IT industry. However, despite the uncertainty prevailing in the global job market, 92 per cent employers are optimistic about new recruitments in the January-June 2023 period.
Appointments can be made on old posts
About half of the participants involved in the survey have expressed the hope of appointments to old posts in addition to new recruitments. At the same time, 29 percent of the employers have talked about only new recruitments, while 17 percent have talked about maintaining the number of employees.
better salary hike expected
With employers being optimistic about recruitment, employees can expect better increments in their annual performance appraisals. More than one-third of the surveyed respondents expect an average salary increase of more than 20 percent this year. Apart from this, youth passing out from colleges and higher educational institutions can also be encouraged by the favorable attitude of employers towards campus recruitment.
