This will keep the coach coaches cool in summer and warm in winter. Along with this, facilities of linear fans, LED lights, modular sitting rail mounted seats, on board mini pantry and luggage bin will also be available. These facilities are of international standard.
Order of 42 coaches
An order for 30 coaches was received from RCF Indian Railways. Now it has been increased to 42. Such coaches are being made for the Kangra Valley Line. The track of the Kalka-Shimla route dates back to the British era. This is the reason that the speed of the train on this will remain the same as that of the toy train. If this track is upgraded in future, it can be run with high speed. In the next two-three months, new modern coaches will start running on the track.
problem in making coach
RCF was entrusted with the responsibility of designing and manufacturing bogies of Kalka-Shimla Railway. He faced two major problems. The first problem was that there was no digital data to sample the narrow-gauge track to prepare the design and verify it. Another problem was that there was no institution for verification and approval of designs. Hence 3D models were created using old blueprints and sketches available at Kalka Workshop. The Railway Board had given final approval to the design in February 2022.
