Karan Johar and Salman may come together after the end of Tiger-3

Back in 1998, Salman Khan played an extended role in Karan Johar’s directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It’s been 25 years since then, however, and Salman has never done a film for Dharma Productions. The two forces almost came together to collaborate twice in the past 10 years – one on Shuddhi, which was to be directed by Karan Malhotra with Salman and Kareena and the second time in a producer capacity on Kesari. However, both conversations did not turn into a feature film.

And now, in October 2022, Karan has approached Salman with a family film with a young director. It was a father-daughter story and Salman had two meetings with Karan, but the talks were eventually shelved as Salman really didn’t want to do any family drama at that point of time. He asked Karan if he could come back with something big.

According to Pinkvilla, in January 2023, Karan Johar with his director Vishnuvardhan with a big mega budget film opposite Salman Khan. Vishnuvardhan had earlier made Sher Shah for Karan Johar and it was quite a success. And since then there have been around 10 to 12 meetings between Salman, Vishnu and Karan. They have discussed many aspects and the talks are still going on. Efforts are being made from all the three sides to give concrete shape to this film.

There is a buzz that the film in question could be Salman’s Eid 2024 offering for the audience. However, this is not possible. It is a massive film and requires a lot of work. If Salman agrees to do the film, it will go into pre-production and casting stage, which will take 2 to 3 months. The earliest it can go on floors is November 2023. Hence, there is no chance of it getting an Eid release. Once things materialize, the team will take a step towards finalizing the release date. Vishnuvardhan is currently shooting for a Tamil film which is expected to release by the end of 2023.

Salman is currently gearing up for the last schedule of Tiger 3, which will see him reunite with Shah Rukh Khan. He will probably be in talks with Karan Johar after saying a wrap on Tiger 3 by the end of May. Along with this, the time frame of Aditya Chopra’s Spy Universe film Tiger Vs Pathan will also be clear by then. He will get his line up set on the basis of Tiger vs Pathan as most of the film will have combination dates with Shah Rukh Khan. Both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman are working together to push their shooting deadlines.
