Although Kavita Krishnamurthy wanted to work in the Indian Foreign Services, but at the age of 14 she came to Mumbai to try her luck in Bollywood. In the year 1976, Kavita Krishnamurthy sang in her first Hindi film ‘Kadambari’. This song was ‘Aayega Aanewala’ which was the Hindi remake of the same song sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Kavita Krishnamurthy sang many songs in her career from RD Burman to Amit Kumar, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Abhijeet Bhattacharya. Kavita Krishnamurthy’s duets with Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Babul Supriyo were also well established. Kavita Krishnamurthy was at the height of stardom in the nineties.
