Lakhpati Didi mentioned in Budget 2024, know about the scheme which will empower women

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the interim budget on February 1, 2024. While presenting the budget, he enumerated the achievements of the Central Government in the last 10 years. During this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a very important announcement regarding women. He said that 3 crore women in the country will be made Lakhpati Didi.

Let us tell you that on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the launch of Lakhpati Didi Scheme from the ramparts of the Red Fort. At the beginning of the scheme, it was decided that a total of two crore Lakhpati Didis would be created across the country. Now this number has been increased, under which it has been decided to create three crore Lakhpati Didis across the country.

Let us tell you that the objective of ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme is to provide training to women in Self Help Groups (SHGs) so that they can earn a sustainable income of at least one lakh rupees per year. Presenting the Interim Budget 2024-25 in Parliament, the Union Finance Minister said that 83 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs) comprising nine crore women are transforming the rural socio-economic landscape with empowerment and self-reliance. He said, “83 lakh SHGs with nine crore women are transforming the rural socio-economic landscape with empowerment and self-reliance. Her success has already helped around one crore women become Lakhpati Didi. He is an inspiration for others.” Sitharaman said, ”His achievements will be recognized by honoring him. Encouraged by the success, it has been decided to increase the target of Lakhpati Didi from Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore.

Know about the scheme

Let us tell you that Lakhpati Didi Yojana is basically for poor and economically backward women. The scheme aims to promote poverty alleviation and economic empowerment. This scheme will provide skill training to women. Thanks to this skill training, women will be able to earn Rs 1 lakh annually. In this scheme, drones will be provided to women self-help groups and they will be given training to operate and repair them.

Let us tell you that in the cabinet meeting held in November 2023, the Central Government had spent Rs 1261 crore for the Lakhpati Didi Scheme. In this, it was decided to give drones to 15 thousand women SHGs. In the meeting, it was decided to give 14,500 drones to women in the coming years. According to the information, fertilizer companies will provide 500 drones by March in the financial year 2023-24. Drones will be used in farming work. It will be used to spray pesticides and fertilizers. Women will be able to rent these drones to farmers, which will generate income for them. Let us tell you that women belonging to self-help groups will be given training for 15 days.
