Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the letter of intent (LOI) for Dharavi redevelopment to the Adani group will be handed over to it only after verifying its financial capability to execute the project. This was raised by Congress MLA Varsha Gaikwad after the Hindenburg Report expressing concern about the project. In response to this, the Deputy Chief Minister gave this assurance. Gaikwad also asked whether a new tender would be floated for the project. On this, Fadnavis said that the process of tender was completely transparent.
He said that a global tender was floated for this and three parties gave their response. The bids of both the parties were found reasonable. The contract was awarded to the highest bidder. Fadnavis said, “It is wrong to say that there was a flaw in the process. The letter of intent has not been given yet. ”Adani Group had emerged as the largest bidder for the 259-acre Dharavi redevelopment project in November 2021. It had bid for Rs 5,069 crore for the project while DLF’s bid was Rs 2,025 crore.
