Target to cross 200 crore sales

According to Mankind Pharma, once this factory starts, it will be one of the largest producers of dydrogesterone in the world. The company launched Dydrogesterone in the year 2019. The company hopes that this year i.e. in 2023 it will cross the sales figure of 200 crores. However, industrially developing complex hormones like dydrogesterone is a challenging task. Until now only Abbot had been able to do this. According to IQVIA, Abbott captured a major share of the ₹610-crore dydrogesterone market in India in FY22. However, now rapidly Mankind (Mankind Pharma) is increasing its share in the market. Its segment of dydrogesterone, sold under the Dydrobun brand name, has generated sales of around ₹150-crore, with a 24.6% market share. It has grown by 246% annually between FY2020 and FY22.

Many companies are in the race

However, mankind is not the only one involved in increasing the market share. Many other big companies are also involved in this race. Other companies like Cipla, Alkem, Eris Lifesciences are also in the fray. However, Abbott is not going to lag behind Mankind when it comes to dydrogesterone. The company has started marketing to maintain its momentum in drug manufacturing.
